When working on your home and projects, you often have to use a ladder to hang things, take stuff down or even go on a roof. We want you to always remain safe and use caution when doing things like these. It is recorded that 164,000 people receive emergency room treatment from ladder-related injuries and there are 300 deaths every year. We’ve compiled a short list of tips to be aware of when using a ladder-
- Choose the right ladder
Every ladder is different in the type, material and weight capacity
- Factor in the height
You’ll never want to stand on your tippy toes or bend over to reach your work area. Select a ladder that reaches perfect height in order to maintain safety.
- Secure on a good surface
Make sure the surface isn’t slick or uneven- never secure on a bed of rocks or mulch, plastic sheets or wet grounds.
- Never stand on top cap
On every ladder, there’s a step that is labeled as the highest level and if you advance above it, the ladder will become unstable and most likely fall.
Your safety matters! Use these tips to ensure that you are properly using a ladder and always read the instructions.
