Flooding can be a very frequent natural disaster. In the event of a flood, you'll want to make sure you are prepared.

TIPS FOR STAYING SAFE AFTER A FLOOD

If a flood has already happened in your area, here are some tips.

-Stay away from any dangerous areas with floodwater.

-Keep a look out for dangerous animals like snakes that could come into your home with the floodwater.

-Officials will report when it is safe to enter your home.

-Contact the fire department if you hear a hissing noise or smell gas.

-Make sure to wear protective gear when cleaning up to avoid injury.

-Be safe when entering your home, and watch out for collapsed or damaged areas.

-If any food or water has come into contact with floodwater, it is best to throw it away.
